“The company that brought the lawsuit was not named in the suit,” a spokesman for the company said. “We were aware of the lawsuit and we didn’t want to take a chance on a lawsuit.”
The spokesman for Pfizer said the company had sued the man’s family over his acid reflux, but he said that the lawsuit did not impact the company, the spokesman said.
“We have a history of litigation regarding the same product, but it’s not a long-standing lawsuit,” he said.
Pfizer spokesman Richard K. Denton said the company did not recall the man’s death and that there was no need for a case. The company did not respond to requests for comment.
A spokeswoman for Pfizer declined to comment.
